![]() Geo File Converter is a nice little app for this purpose. I use Geo File Converter to convert Google KMZ files from MyMap to GPX files for Scenic import. Interestingly if I push the Scenic export to Geo File Converter and do a GPX convert it removes the data. I downloaded iEditor and as you say with Scenic GPX export the file contains data under and Another alternative is to open the GPX in a text editor and remove the corresponding lines manually. There might be some other apps or programs that can remove elements from a GPX. Won't be in there from the beginning though.īasecamp is a good workaround for the moment. I will add this to the list for Scenic 3. However I understand that not all app developers are that receptive to this argument □. Just like Scenic does when you import a GPX. The receiving app should actually let you choose which elements to import/show. ![]() I would argue that the GPX should be as complete as possible, making it usable for as many usages/apps/websites/programs as possible. Is there maybe a way to separate/select which gpx file format you want prior to exporting from Scenic.Īnother option would be to export the gpx to something like Garmin Basecamp on a PC and separate it there and then re-export however that’s not very streamlined.Īt the moment Scenic doesn't let you choose which elements you want to include in the GPX. In both those apps I cannot find a way to separate and remove the straight lines route. I’ve attached a couple of screenshots from two different apps showing the same occurrence. I assume this is a result of what you mentioned earlier ie Scenic app exporting x2 routes. gpx to another app within iOS it shows the correct routing and also some straight lines between waypoints. Hopefully it works out for me and I can get rid of this POS Garmin Zumo XT I think I have narrowed this down to the OSM map I have installed in Basecamp and nothing to do with Scenic so all good there. On further inspection I have my start and finish at the same place as I am creating “Loops” so its displaying as the shortest trips ever in history! I don’t really see the point of the Garmin Extension route if it only has the start/finish waypoints with nothing else in between, then it will just make up its own route ie whatever route preferences you have set A-B.įor some reason I cannot convert the imported “Track” to a route. Initially I couldn’t see the route being displayed on the map. The Garmin compatible route only has the start and finish waypoints. I had (or the software had) the profile set incorrectly for the “Vias and Stops as Routepoints”, once set to “motorcycle” profile it routed correctly. Ok I eventually figured it all out and thanks for the input. Scenic 3 will switch to a new map provider though. I'm not sure what you would have to do in basecamp to make it calculate, but indeed I'm sure it's just a setting somewhere.Īt the moment Scenic uses a 3rd party map provider that takes an extract from OSM and enriches it with some of their own data. Two routes, one track and (at least) two waypoints. When you export a route from Scenic as a GPX file, the GPX file contains a couple of elements. I assume this is because of the road discrepency which i would hazard a guess why it is not creating the route on import into basecamp. If i try to create route from track I receive an error message "there was an error calculating this route". Ive also noticed that the track that is included with the Scenic export is slightly off with the Basecamp road/data (approximately 50mtrs). Also just out or interest, what map does the Scenic App utilise? I am using OSM generic routable map in Garmin Basecamp. Im sure its just a simple setting somewhere however if someone could point me in the right direction before i start clicking like a mad man and mess everything up i would be forever in your debt. GPX file into Garmin Basecamp (exported from Scenic App) the route is straight lines between waypoints.
